BJP National Secretary Ms. Vani Tripathi is felicitated in New Jersey
Ms. Vani Tripathi, the newly appointed BJP National Secretary was felicitated by the Indian American community leaders in New Jersey on March 23, 2010. The felicitation function and interview with media was organized by the OFBJP-USA at TV Asia auditorium. She is visiting USA as part of the India delegation for “Women in Politics” program that was organized for two weeks by the US State Department.
OFBJP-USA, President Elect, Shri Jayesh Patel welcomed the guest Ms. Tripathi and other distinguished community leaders. In his introductory speech, he narrated her accomplishments as a dynamic youth leader and Bollywood actor. He said that Ms Tripathi is a Model, animal rights activist, theatre artist, wildlife photographer, singer, and a politician as she achieved a lot already at young age. He congratulated her on appointment as the Secretary of BJP and encouraged her to take more challenges.
Ms. Vani Tripathi in her speech shared her US experience as she visited various states and US Congress. She attended many meetings at the State Department, UN forums, Women forums, and many more in a hectic schedule. She felt good support for women issues in USA, but said wondered about the minimal presence of women in US senate. She shared her excitement on the passage of Rajyasabha bill that provides 33% reservation to women in Parliament seats. She expressed confidence that the bill will be passed in the Loksabha as well. She reminded that originally it was the BJP’s legislation as Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee and Shri L.K. Advani introduced the bill in the parliament during NDA government. Her top priorities include, engaging the youth and women safety. She told the audience that currently, Delhi is the crime capital of India and women are very much scared to stay outside after 6 PM. She would highlight this issue in coming days.
OFBJP leaders and other community leaders spoke on this occasion. TV Asia chairman Shri H. R. Shah congratulated Ms. Vani Tripati and spoke about media and politics. OFBJP General Secretary Shri Ram Kamath talked about the significance of young leaders like Ms. Vani Tripathi participating in politics. OFBJP New Jersey, Chief Coordinator and National Council member, Shri Raju Patel stressed the need for recognizing the party karyakartas at the lowest level and warned about the misuse of women’s bill by the politicians who could give tickets to their spouses. OFBJP Advisory Committee member Shri Rakshpal Sood said that young leaders like Ms. Vani Tripathi are very important for the country at this juncture, who can think of national unity and integrity as their first priority. OFBJP Treasurer Shri Krishna Reddy and others congratulated her. The meeting was concluded after an energetic question-answer session followed by a sumptuous dinner.
